Note99% sure it wasn't a firework, direction of travel was across the sky not upwards and it was very brief but didn't cover much distance before goin dim. Almost like burning up as it hit the atmosphere, a quick glow, a flash, then the debris pieces glowed for a second then disappeared all over a short distance. I checked the time when I got in my car and it occurred approximately 10:40 pm

NoteI walked out my front door (facing north) and looked up to see a bright greenish light break apart into a cluster of greenish lights.

NoteIt was a bright greenish flash that broke into many small bright greenish lights before disappearing. The whole thing happened in a second or 2 at most. I'm about 25 miles due west from downtown Chicago and it was almost directly north of my location but hard to tell how far north it was.
