NoteI was with my partner; we both saw the occurrence and recount the same observation but from different vantage points. I was looking in the direction of Moffat & Hoppe St at the bar because people were being loud and my partner was looking West out into the bay/pacific. We had been there since 6pm; I go there often to enjoy the sunset and observe the night sky. I usually come before sunset and leave well after moonrise and sometimes leave as late as midnight.. I’ve been doing so for the past year and have never encountered such a phenomenon.I take photos of the sky per usual; the last photo I took before the fireball was at 7:47pm, it came shooting down and then I took an after pic which was at 8:18pm, so it shot down sometime between that time (PST). And let me tell you it was HUGE! Unlike anything I’ve ever witnessed; it was a gigantic sphere the size of Earth that glowed an extremely bright green & blue and left a long coned shaped streaked up in the sky behind it. It had a bit of a fiery look to the tip of it but the only reason it looked fiery was because of how fast it was shooting down into Earth, other than that the actual sphere didn’t hold warm colors; it was bright green, bright blue and bright white and glowed brighter than Venus. It shot from right to left and seemed so close to us for how large it was and for how long it spanned the sky. It lasted a good 5 seconds and appeared out of nowhere and disappeared into the equator. To me it looked it was going to crash into the Fremont/Newark area and to my partner it looked like it was going to hit the Bay Bridge. We did not hear any sounds associated to it’s falling or landing and it stayed in a perfect, glowing sphere the entire time. I noticed an airplane caught the fireball’s path and struck right in front of the plane so I wonder if the pilot or passengers saw what happened. I’m not sure what airline it was. That’s our recount and I’m sad I didn’t get any footage but I feel so blessed to have at least witnessed such an astonishing gift from nature. Thank you for your time.
